5th of May Run through at Bourne Hall Reflection

Today was our final day of being able to practise properly at Bourne Hall. We had the whole day, from 11:00am till 5:00pm to practise, and I think we got a lot of use out of that time.
We needed to work a lot on the revolve because we hadn’t even inserted that into the piece and a lot of us were panicking as to how we were going to add that in and remember the order of each section. However although I do feel much more confident I am slightly worried that I haven’t had enough practise in the space and I don’t want my movements to be hesitant or unsure because then they are not precise and they won’t have intention.
When we go in on Tuesday we will have time for a run or maybe two and I’m glad because that will re-jog my memory and I will feel much more confident for the performances on that day.
The thing I am most nervous about is the babies section, however we did work on that today and I think what we have changed makes it much more effective and it has much more structure.
I am not worried about any accidents with the public because so far I have done pretty well in avoiding any trouble with them! When we doing the sqaures section linking on to Gap, I was running at Charlotte and an old woman was walking to a table with drinks, I ran past her because I didn’t want to break out of the piece, however I made sure I wasn’t extremely close to her, and I was visually aware of whereabouts she was.
I have learnt from practising in the public that people really aren’t used to change, and they don’t particularly like it either. However you have to just roll with whatever happens and try not to show any uncertainty in this piece. If someone sits in your chair you have to think on your feet and creatively work around it.
I am really excited for these performances because although they are abstract I think they will really speak to people and I like that I am doing something so different because I’ve never done anything like this before so it’s a great experience and I love the fact that we get such odd and different reactions from the public.
